Flower Moon Festival

The Collective, a major club at my alma mater Chapman University, put on Flower Moon festival in April 2022 to display the best musicians and artists that the community has to offer. Orange County guest writer Josh Taylor was in attendance and shared his experience amongst the crowd.

Wish You Were There

Flower Moon wasn't just a feature-length film, it was a full-on cinematic trilogy with plot twists, sharp turns, sudden drops, and stops. Set in Orange County in the early 2020s, this festival showcased bombastic performances from various local artists in the Chapman community. Three stages were neatly designed in a compact amphitheater setting. The main stage was outdoors and had seating available for those not currently wiggling their knees on the dance floor. The Treehouse Stage was towards the entrance, and the Locker Room was behind the amphitheater constantly providing a bass-heavy and sometimes sweaty indoor setting. Vendors were scattered about the venue, food and drink was also available. My whiskey sour got knocked over, but the chicken sliders I got were tasty enough to override those negative feelings.

The night only got better after munching down on the game fuel: Will Tulip played a groovy set with 3 other musicians and someone got on stage and started wildly dancing really close to the bassist. Jaeden Camstra's lo-fi beats boomed with the big speakers in the Locker Room stage. Kate Stephenson presented a heart-clenching and gut-wrenching graduation themed performance on the main stage, and that shit went hard.Arden Jones came out strong to finish up on the big stage, but Jackson Gefen's DJ set in the locker room closed out the night, and people were going wild - I was admittedly one of them.

To conclude this written notion, I would like to let everyone know that I had an astoundingly fun night at the Garden Amphitheater in Orange County on April 29th of 2022. A huge thank you and shout out to the Collective at Chapman University. This event was easily the best music festival/concert that Chapman students have put together since COVID, and I feel bad for any Chapman student who failed to attend. To those who missed out: I Wish You Were There!
